SS11 Version 2 Changes and Updates:
Below are the changes that will be incorporated into all new version 2 preamps.
"Bright Mode" toggle switch control was added for the Crunch channel.
The previous 2 separate LED indicators for the Crunch/Lead channels were replaced with 1 bi-color LED that changes colors with channel selection.
Clean channel's tone stack was improved for greater control over EQ settings.
Drive channel's tonal characteristics have increased tube saturation.
Cabinet Simulation output redesigned for improved direct-to-board tone.
SS11A bottom plate, tube grill cover, and protection bar are now powder coated grey in color.
SS11B bottom plate, tube grill cover, and protection bar are now powder coated in yellow.
SS11 A/B Overview:
For all of those players out there who are not yet familiar with the SS11 series, here is a helpful overview. There are two versions of the SS11; A and B. Version A is labeled as CLASSIC MOD, while version B is labeled as MODERN MOD. Both version offer the same control layout, footswitches, toggles, FX loops, output selection options, etc; however they are voiced slightly different.
The CLASSIC MOD provides a well-rounded medium gain tone, present in all eras of music. Perfectly balanced to bring out all the nuances/tonality of your playing, guitar build, pickups, tube selection, etc.
The MODERN MOD provides a hot-rodded, more aggressive metal style preamp tone. Heavier players with high gain pickups, low tuned guitars, and 7-8 string guitars love this version.
Features of the SS11 Series:
Fully tube-based 4-stage overdrive channel with dual tube design (2x12AX7 tubes).
High anode (+300 V) voltage for true tube preamp tone.
Three separate channels: Clean/Crunch/Lead.
Individual gain and volume controls assigned to each channel for perfect leveling between the three.
Bright toggle on clean and crunch channels.
Treble shift toggle on crunch and lead channels.
FX LOOP ins and outs for proper use with external effects.
Output with selectable switch for connecting to either guitar amplifiers (TO AMP setting) or direct to board (TO MIX setting).
SS11 incorporates new field-effect guitar cabinet impulse response emulator modeling when the TO MIX output is selected.
Utilizes a low noise high voltage transformer to provide the cleanest sound possible.
3 Channels of the SS11 Preamp:
CLEAN channel focuses on crystal clarity clean sound. Low, Mid, and High controls for tweaking your tone; as well as and treble shift toggle for adjusting high end response.
CRUNCH channel features a beautifully overdriven tone with natural tube sustain. This is the SS-11's sweet spot! Very tubey and saturated sounding; much like that of the classic tube amps of the 70's/80's and the high end boutique amps of today. Wide range of sensitivity adjustment results in the sound starting from light crunch to thick and bright lead channel-like sound. Natural tube tone. If you're looking for something other than that dull sounding solid-state OD or TS clone sound, then this is it!
LEAD channel provides even higher gain tones than the Crunch channel. Perfect for playing both heavy rhythm parts and singing solos with excellent presence. Treble shift toggle to take your lead sound into bright mode, similar to the good old "treble booster" pedals in the 80's that guitarists used to enhance their solos. The Lead channel has over double the gain found on most distortion pedals.
It's like having your own 3 channel amp head on your pedalboard!
