Demeter Professional Guitar Amplification, Effects, and Signal Processors
The Demeter Amplification Company began in 1980 with the introduction of their first product, the Red Box FET Direct Box, designed by James Demeter, Rob Robinette and Phil Van Allen. Total production run of 15. This was a nice sounding unit utilizing a Jensen DBE transformer. One cool feature was that it had a built-in battery tester that showed battery status every time it was plugged in. In 1981, the company was named Innovative Audio Systems.
By 1990, they had a catalog of superb products including the VTMP-2 Tube Microphone Preamp, TGP-3 Three Channel Guitar Preamp (sound of Stone Temple Pilots, The Misfits, Trent Reznor and Clint Black ), and the STDB-1 Stereo Tube Direct Box ( used on the road with CSN&Y, the Eagles, Rage Against the Machine, and many others). That same year the company is officially renamed Demeter Amplification and continues to be a leading force of innovation in the world of music electronics today.
