Best Value Vintage Style Telecaster Fender Makes. Review by Brian

My 2009 Squier Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster is finally to the point where fret wear makes it unplayable. Not sure why these early CV frets wear so quickly? I looked around for a new replacement neck that was thicker with the same fret size and radius and that was going to cost at least $250 and need some Luthier work to make playable. So I decided to try to unload the hefty 9.5lb Squier and look for a new tele all together. I shopped around for 2 months and was almost going to go to another retailer at full price to ensure I got a light weight Baja. But PAL was able to give me an unheard of price for a new fender. I had gotten the same deal on pickups 3 years before and was treated right. which is rare today online! my fear was nasty grain showing and getting a boat anchor since ash varies a lot in density & grain. However, I got a 7.75lb tele with a 2pc swamp ash body that was well matched and had a nice swirled greenish/purplish grain that is not as transparent as I remembered the baja I've played having. The setup needed a little intonation work. but no vintage 3 barrel tele bridge is perfect. The S1 switch offers alot of tones but can be noisey. overall I love the service I got and the price. and I don't think I could of hand picked a better one at a boutique dealer...I'm happy and do not plan on changing anything but maybe setting it up with pure nickel strings..Will buy from PAL again.
