I am a guitar player that was looking for a bass to learn on and this Squier short scale fit the bill. The quality is excellent for the low price and even though I love the way the short scale neck feels in my hands. (Posted on 11/15/2013)

I purchased one of these basses back when I first started to get serious with the bass. I did my homework to find a bass based on very basic needs - I wanted the scale to be no longer than 30", I wanted it to be lightweight, I wanted it to be affordable, and most importantly to sound decent. Just something I can play easily to take back and forth from practice was all I really needed. The Squier jag SS surpassed my expectations in every aspect. It was light as a feather, yet built very solid for the price range. The tone variety was more than decent, the P pickups really growl and the J gives it a nice bite (though the Jazz admittedly is a bit thinner, wasn't an issue for me though). The neck was slim and super fast to get around, plus at the price range I didn't have to worry about taking it out with me. I would definitely recommend this bass to something just starting out to even a seasoned pro who wants to fiddle around on a shorter scale. (Posted on 8/21/2013)
