Custom ’68 Sound and Style

The guitarist with an eye and ear for late-’60s Fender “silverface” style will love the ’68 Custom Deluxe Reverb, which honors the classic look and great sound of that era’s amps. Small, light and moderately powered, the Deluxe Reverb received a fresh new face in 1968—a silver-and-turquoise front panel with aluminum grille cloth trim, with tone, reverb and tremolo that was still pure Fender. The ’68 Custom Deluxe Reverb also has modified all-tube circuitry, vintage channel for traditional silverface tone, custom channel with Bassman® tone stack, and reduced negative feedback for greater touch sensitivity and quicker gain onset.

Capable gigging amp at a great price Review by funkywebmaster

Glad to have purchased from ProAudioLand. Dale was helpful to me before and after the sale and I felt like I got the best deal from the best people I could've ordered from when I did. I play alt-country and also in the orchestra pit for some local productions of various musicals. I think this amp will cover anything except heavy metal just fine.
I discovered power tube rattle with mine, at high volumes, upon delivery. One power tube...and not the socket. That tends to be the nature of the beast with a combo amp but hit-or-miss with these particular pieces. Since the other power tube does not rattle, I set up for local warranty service and am now waiting for a replacement set to be shipped, but it is covered under warranty since it was before 90 days. Cool. Hopefully they're delivered quickly and they're quiet.
A big step up from the Hot Rod series, THIS is the Fender sound I've been looking for. The left channel picks up where the "standard" right channel (and the '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue) leaves off. More focused lows and highs let you turn it up without harshness. The background hiss is higher than I would like for it to be at home, but it gets buried when you're on a stage and the people who have been running the PA systems haven't said anything about that. The clean headroom is more than high enough for me to retain clean signal at gig level, and the natural overdrive is very nice if I ever want to use that (probably more in the studio than in a club because the volume level would simply be too high. It's a LOUD 22 watts!) The reverb is as expected and quiet. The noise floor of the tremolo is noticeable but acceptable. And I was thinking I wouldn't be surprised if I needed to swap out the speaker first thing, but the stock Celestion V-type speaker is wonderful and not going anywhere. Very happy with it.
