Jim Root has the lucky distinction of being part of the two most important hard rock bands to ever come out of the Midwest, Stone Sour and Slipknot. Both bands do much to showcase not only his masterful playing but also his ethereal side, which you don’t hear so much as feel.

Jim cut his teeth in various local Des Moines bands (including local rivals Stone Sour; more on that band shortly …) until joining Slipknot in 1999. Three platinum-plus albums, sold-out world tours, a Grammy® award and throngs of adoring fans followed. In 2002, the then-dormant Stone Sour was resurrected; that year's eponymous debut album and 2006 follow up Come What(ever) May both went gold. Come What(ever) May also featured the number-one single “Through Glass.”
