The progress of a band is determined by the coordination between the instruments and vocalists. Inadequate coordination between the individual musicians will definitely deliver unpleasant sounds. The one way to ensure that your band sounds great is to promote a healthy relationship among the members. It can be achieved by various team-building activities alongside other methods of fostering cohesion among the members of the band. In this article, we will look at the factors which are primarily responsible for chemistry among band members.

1. Choice of band members

The first step toward ensuring the group speaks one voice is to ensure it has the right members. This goes back to the process of recruiting. It would be hard for people to work together if one of them thinks they are better than the others. Or there are traces of racism or any other discriminatory characters. The people should be capable of freely interacting with fellow band members for the unity to develop. If you identify a member who doesn't fit into the team, it is advisable to let that person go, regardless of their skill. A successful band is only half determined by the skills of their members. The other half is brought by the ability of the members to work together and synchronize their acts.

2. Understand each person

The key to making good music is knowing every person in the band. What are their weakness and their strengths? What motivates them? Are they emotionally sensitive? What are their physical limitations? It is important to have this information to ensure that every band member is comfortable in the team. I. Play with each person individually This makes it possible for you to understand the subtleties of each musician, which will eventually make it easier for you to work with the band as a whole. II. Discuss your passions in music While doing this, you can understand what drove your members to start playing (or singing). Knowing the techniques and the musical decisions of the person can also be a way of getting people to work together. This process may eventually reveal the musical goals of the person. A band cannot stick together if the individual members have different ideas on what they should do, or how it should be done.

3. Spend time together outside of practice

The best way to bond as bandmates is to do other things together outside band practice. Spending time together is a good way of bonding for people. This way, they can fully understand each other and get a chance to be more than just bandmates. You can choose to go to events and concerts, go sporting or take turns at doing each member's hobby. The disadvantage with this is that if you get too close, there might be fights over personal issues, which is the exact opposite of what the exercise is aimed at.

Final Thoughts ...

When the entire session is focused on acquiring recognition or winning a prize, the stress levels will be high. Every person will be invested in being better than the competition, which could have an adverse effect on how the band sounds. Instead, aim at having fun while playing with your bandmates. The act will fall in place, and the performance will be synchronized and entertaining.
