Leaked image on Twitter of this year's
poster from @FestivalSnob
If leaked internet images are true – and when are they not? – then it seems as though Nine Inch Nails and The Cure will be headlining this year’s Lollapalooza according to an as of yet officially confirmed photo of this year’s poster.
According to The Chicago Tribune, “multiple industry sources” confirmed that the picture – which hit the web late yesterday and early today (March 27-28) via various music-related Twitter accounts and blogs like Slicing Up Eyeballs – is in fact the official lineup of the festival. The lineup listed on the poster for the three-day Chicago festival, taking place from August 2-4, lists The Cure and Nine Inch Nails as two of the headliners.
Some of you out there might remember that Nine Inch Nails have already announced six tour dates and on the band’s site they note that “more dates are coming soon.” With no shows scheduled during Lolla, it wouldn’t be that surprising if they made an appearance at the festival all things considered.
As for The Cure, they are planning to return to South America in April, along with two festival dates in Asia. And in 2011 while playing their nine “Reflections” concerts, which made stops in Los Angeles and New York City, Robert Smith assured fans in the States that they would see the band again next year. Maybe Lollapalooza is the start of another U.S. tour for the band?
The official line-up for Lollapalooza was supposed to be announced on April 9, but a festival spokesperson said the line-up will now be announced sometime next week. Single-day tickets are still slated to go on sale April for $95. Three-day early bird tickets, which went on-sale last week, have already sold out.
Last week, The Chicago Tribune reported a whole slew of other acts headed to the festival including Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, The Postal Service, The Killers, Vampire Weekend and The National, all of which are listed on the leaked poster. Imagine Dragons told Radio.com that they’d be performing at Lolla this year, and sure enough, they’re listed on the poster.
Below are the other acts listed on the leaked poster that may or may not be playing Lollapalooza:
