Scott Weilding performing in 2010

Bad news for singer Scott Weiland as it has now pretty much been confirmed that he has been fired from Stone Temple Pilots – this according to his former Velvet Revolver bandmate Slash.

This would be the second time the troubled frontman has been made to part with the group, the first being back in 2002 when Stone Temple Pilots were forced to disband amid personality issues directly related to Weiland.

In a recent interview with the Minneapolis/St. Paul radio station 93X, Slash was asked to elaborate on Weiland’s recent comments that he was “completely open” to reuniting with Velvet Revolver.

"That's because he got fired from STP," said Slash. "I think, all things considered, because these things always catch me by surprise, too, because I only find out about it through the media. I'm on the road in another country and I start hearing all this stuff, so I inquire within, and that's what I was told."

Looks like Slash might still have a pretty vivid memory of Weiland’s last tenure with Velvet Revolver. Weilland ultimately left the band to reunite with Stone Temple Pilots, leaving a bitter taste assuredly for the rest of Velvet Revolver who were never able to replace the singer even as they held plenty of try outs.

Beyond Slash’s interview there still hasn’t been any official word from Weiland or STP on the matter but from the sound of it, seems like there’s currently a vacant stop for a rock singer – and it’s not for Velvet Revolver!
