Spoon Move Up New Album Release Date, Announce First Single

Earlier this month, fans of Spoon had a chance to visit the “Mystery Zone”, one of the tunes off of their forthcoming studio effort, next year’s Transference. While a nice little audio slice of more to come, it only made the wait ’til January that much harder. But it turns out the band’s just as excited too, and they’ve moved up the album’s release date… to January 19th.

It’s not much, just a week, but it gets better. According to Pitchfork, “Written in Reverse” will be the album’s first single and starting next Tuesday will be available as a digital release. For those in need of a physical entity, or just you vinyl enthusiasts out there, a 7″ single will arrive January 5th. There’s a catch, however. The vinyl will include a special B-side, “Mean Read Spider”, which will never hit the web — at least not legally.
