Jack White and Insane Clown Posse

One word: Wow. Jack White is producing the new release from fellow Detroit natives Insane Clown Posse -- yes, the duo in face paint rapping about murdering people with hatchets -- and Nashville rockers JEFF the Brotherhood have joined the project as the backing band. Do collaborations get weirder than that?

The record will be their interpretation of a lesser known Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart piece from 1782 called "Leck Mich Im Arsch," which is literally translated as "Lick me in the arse."

According to a press release, the 2011 version of "Leck Mich Im Arsch" marries "Mozart's melody and lyrics sung in operatic German with ICP's poignant lyrical addition in English and Jeff the B's monster-riffs." The B-side of the single is "Mountain Girl," an original composition, which has ICP's Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope dropping verses about country life -- shotgun weddings, meth addiction, and moonshine.

The 7-inch single and iTunes download of "Leck Mich Im Arsch" will be available on September 13, and 100 tri-color vinyl copies of the single will be sold at the Third Man Rolling Record Store starting September 17 at the MI Fest in Brooklyn, Michigan, where the Raconteurs will be performing. Another 50 tri-color vinyls will be randomly inserted into mail orders dispatched by Third Man Records.

White and ICP filmed a teaser video for the upcoming collaboration: "The music collaboration you've all been waiting for," it says. "230 years in the making." Watch below.

SuperHeavy, the supergroup featuring Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, A.R. Rahman and Damian Marley, put out a new song titled “Miracle Worker.” It is available now on iTunes.

As Jagger’s attempt at a “fusion of music from different parts of the world,” the first single is a smooth reggae groover that makes the group’s forthcoming album look promising. The still-untitled record is due out Sept. 20.

Listen to a teaser of the song and watch the band’s introductory video below:

Colbert

Sorry, Conan! Jack White's got a new late night talk show host comedian BFF. All week long, White and Stephen Colbert have been getting chummy on "The Colbert Report", and it was all leading up to this: White, Colbert, and the mysterious garage band the Black Belles have recorded a 7" single together for White's Third Man Records.

The collaboration, "Charlene II (I'm Over You)", was debuted last night with a performance on the "Report", and the single is for sale right now on iTunes and at the Third Man store. Today at 11 a.m., Colbert and White will be selling copies of the 7" at the Third Man Rolling Record Store, which will be parked at the Lot at the High Line, located at 10th Avenue and 30th street in New York City. They have also created this amazing flyer to promote the single.

The B-side to the single is the Black Belles' rendition of "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)", the seminal 80s new wave hit by Stephen and the Colberts. (You remember when that one was on MTV all the time, right?) The Black Belles also performed that track on tonight's "Colbert Report".

The "Charlene" performance was preceded by a hilarious segment in which Colbert, White, and the Black Belles shot the cover of the single at the photo studio inside Third Man's Nashville headquarters. If you've ever wanted to see what Stephen Colbert would look like dressed up as circa-2001-era Jack White-- or a vampire-- now's your chance. Here's the end result:

Velvet Metallica

Lou Reed is about to take a walk on the wild side with Metallica.

A few months ago, guitarist Kirk Hammett hinted that a new record was “not really 100 percent a Metallica record.” And so yesterday, the California-based heavy metal rockers revealed in a statement on their website that they have completed a full-length album with the legendary Velvet Underground frontman.

The group stated that they have “been kicking around the idea of making a record together” ever since they performed with Reed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 25th Anniversary at Madison Square Garden in 2009.

“Some of you astute Bay Area residents may have picked up news of recent Lou Reed sightings in the greater San Francisco area and we have indeed been working at our home studio at HQ on and off over the last few months,” the statement confirms.

Metallica did not give any further information on the upcoming album except that they recorded 10 songs.

“We can’t wait for you to listen to the finished record,” they said.
