Even though alternative rock legends R.E.M. called it quits last month after 31 years together, the band has released two different music videos for a new single – perhaps their last!

The first video for We All Go Back Where We Belong – shot in black and white - stars Kirsten Dunst and is similar to Andy Warhol's screen tests, where the video serves as a moving photograph. In the video, Dunst smiles, laughs, looks embarrassed and experiences a variety of other emotions through the video.

The second video stars artist/poet/activist John Giorno.

Speaking on the video project lead singer Michael Stipe said, "To be able to work with John and Kirsten was a dream I carried since we recorded the song, and their participation completes the song for me."

We All Go Back To Where We Belong is one of three new tracks that will be included in R.E.M.'s upcoming final album, R.E.M., Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982-2011. The album will be a 40 song retrospective from their career.

Dio's Wife

During the 1980s, charity singles like "Do They Know It's Christmas" and "We Are the World" topped the charts – but not in the metal world. So Dio members Vivian Campbell and Jimmy Bain decided to do something about what they felt was a slight of their genre, and spoke to lead singer Ronnie James Dio about putting together their own charity project.

The result was the song "Stars," featuring members of Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Blue Öyster Cult and even Spinal Tap. The group – which called itself Hear N' Aid – also enlisted Ted Nugent and Yngwie Malmsteen to record the track and put out an album, Stars, featuring live cuts by Kiss, Rush, Dio and more.

The track should be a part of Eighties lore – it features Dio and Rob Halford, among others, on lead vocals. But due to contract differences with the labels, the song and album weren't released until New Year's Day, 1986, well after the success of its predecessors and has since been largely forgotten.

But Ronnie's widow Wendy Dio wants to fix that. "I’m going to rerelease [Stars] because it only ever came out on vinyl and cassette. So it’ll come out on DVD and CD," she tells Rolling Stone. "I have loads of outtakes for the video."

Until then, Wendy has a full slate of projects on the horizon to honor Dio's memory and raise funds for the "Stand Up And Shout" Cancer Fund. Everything kicks off tonight at the Playboy Mansion in L.A. with an awards ceremony – with each award named after a Dio song, including the "King Of Rock And Roll" honor, being given this year to his Black Sabbath mate Geezer Butler.

"Geezer Butler was not only a band mate with Ronnie, but one of his dearest friends," Wendy says. "He insisted on flying to Houston for Ronnie’s first chemo treatment to sit with him. Obviously I miss Ronnie every day, but I like to keep his memory alive and see if we can raise as much money as possible to get rid of this horrible disease."

She's also planning a bowling benefit January 31st and a guitar auction in April featuring over 100 donated guitars. Next year she wants to begin work on the tribute album, which will include artists ranging from Dave Grohl, doing "Mob Rules," to Asia lead singer John Payne, who may tackle "Heaven And Hell." She also tells us it will have to be a double album that will include friends like Halford and Glenn Hughes, as well as younger bands, such as Killswitch, who were influenced by Dio.

On December 6, the Black Keys will release El Camino, their Danger Mouse-produced follow-up to last year's breakthrough Brothers. (Remember, it was literally deemed a Breakthrough by MTV, who mistook the band for the Black Eyed Peas due to a hilarious "clerical error.") Right now, you can hear first single "Lonely Boy," which was released digitally today and is set to drop as the A-side on a limited edition 12" with fellow El Camino cut "Run Right Back" on November 25 as part of Record Store Day's Black Friday series.

It's streaming via a YouTube video the Ohio blues-rock duo shared early this morning that's accompanied by footage of a man dancing at what appears to be a motel. Fit with vine-swinging, '60s surf leads and a mammoth chorus, this is the sound of the Black Keys really going for it. You will be prompted to wiggle as well.

Jack White's Bluesy U2 Cover

10/19/11 10:12 AM

Jack White knew what he was doing when he took on "Love Is Blindness" as part of Q Magazine's 20th-anniversary tribute to U2's soon-to-be-reissued Achtung Baby. While the Irish arena rockers are probably best known for their windswept anthems, the Achtung Baby finale isn't too far from White's tastes in its original version: There's a "The House of the Rising Sun"-like chord progression, peals of organ, streaks of guitar fuzz, and a particularly emotion-wracked Bono vocal.

For this cover, the White Stripes frontman goes back to the song's down-and-dirty blues-rock heritage, howling the pained lyrics as if he were on a lost Nuggets cut. Even better than the real thing? Have a listen to the BBC Radio 2-premiered track below — and forever banish that OMG-WTF Insane Clown Posse collabo from your brain cells (via Interference as first pointed out by Consequence of Sound).

Jack White, "Love Is Blindness" (U2 Cover)

The cover appears on Q's AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered tribute album, which also features Nine Inch Nails, Garbage, Depeche Mode, the Killers, Snow Patrol, and more. The tribute is available with copies of the magazine's next issue, hitting shelves on October 25th. Check out the track list below. In related news, U2's massive Achtung Baby reissue arrives on October 31st.

AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered tracklist:

1. Nine Inch Nails, "Zoo Station"
2. U2, "Even Better Than The Real Thing (Jacques Lu Cont Mix)"

Paul McCartney

The Love We Make, a documentary about Paul McCartney's experiences in New York City immediately after 9/11 is set to premiere on Showtime one day before the 10th anniversary of the historic attack. The black and white film is mainly focused on the Beatles legend's work in planning and preparing for the Concert for New York City benefit show six weeks afterward.

The documentary will feature footage of McCartney rehearsing for the gig along with clips of the singer talking to New Yorkers on the street and cameo appearances from Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Bill Clinton. The film was directed by Albert Maysles, one half of the filmmaking duo that made the Rolling Stones movie Gimme Shelter and the cult classic Grey Gardens.

SuperHeavy, the supergroup featuring Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, A.R. Rahman and Damian Marley, put out a new song titled “Miracle Worker.” It is available now on iTunes.

As Jagger’s attempt at a “fusion of music from different parts of the world,” the first single is a smooth reggae groover that makes the group’s forthcoming album look promising. The still-untitled record is due out Sept. 20.

Listen to a teaser of the song and watch the band’s introductory video below:

Those Grammy-winnin' kings of sensitive-and-intellectual indie-rock, Death Cab for Cutie, have themselves a a new album named Codes and Keys. It's out May 31. And, if you listen to the Death Cabbers themselves, it's not a 'guitar-centric' record at all, and, like Transatlanticism and Narrow Stairs, was assembled with an experimental, Eno-influenced approach.

To go with their new record, Death Cab have themselves new tour dates. They also have a new DVD. It's entitled Live at the Mt. Baker Theatre, and, as its title all-too-plainly attests, it features the band playing live at the Mt. Baker Theatre. Said venue is located in their old Bellingham, Washington hood; and, given they played the documented concerts in April, 2009, the shows definitely had a hometown-heroes vibe to it. Like Codes and Keys, Live at the Mt. Baker Theatre is out May 31.
