Good morning, music fans! Let’s check out some news this Friday morning.  According to a new interview with UK music site/mag NME, director Brett Morgen said that he hopes the Kurt Cobain film he’s been currently working on for about four years “will be this generation’s The Wall.”

Morgen – who is the man behind the recent and successful Rolling Stones documentary Crossfire Hurricane – was tapped by Courtney Love and the Cobain estate to make a film examining the life of the Nirvana frontman. The project has finally started to come together after about five years of planning, revealed Morgen.  

"If you think about Kurt, he's a contradiction,” said Morgan. “He could be sincere and sentimental, and also ironic and sarcastic. He was sweet and sour. He was incredibly funny, too, and the film has to reflect his spirit."

The Rolling Stones fifty years ago

Listen up all you honky tonk women and street fighting men! In what should be sweeter than brown sugar for fans of the legendary rock band, Eagle Rock Entertainment is set to release a brand new documentary as part of the Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary celebrations.

Unlike any other documentary before it, this will be the first film to trace the roots of the band back to 1963, giving fans an in-depth look at the evolution of one of the most successful groups of the past century. "We are thrilled to continue our relationship with the Rolling Stones and help to bring this extraordinary documentary film to millions of fans," said Terry Shand, Eagle Rock chairman and CEO.

Southern California punk veterans Pennywise is set to release their 10th studio album, All or Nothing, on April 27 through their longtime label Epitaph Records.


This will be the band’s first album release with former Ignite member Zoli Téglás taking the helm as lead vocalist after founding member and singer Jim Lindberg called it quits in late 2009. Téglás had already begun to fill in for a waning Lindberg a few months earlier as the former Pennywise front man was unable to perform due to commitments involving production of his book-turned-documentary, Punk Rock Dad: No Rules, Just Real Life, which chronicles the 46 year olds’ foray into fatherhood and everything that came before it, as well as a look into his developing writing career.

In a recent interview, guitarist Fletcher Dragge explained how much more civil the recording sessions for All or Nothing were as opposed to previous efforts with Linberg, although the process was not without its drama.
