Jack White and the Peacocks performing at Sunday's
Grammy Awards.

Even though his number one selling record Blunderbuss may have struck out (three times no less) at this past Sunday’s Grammy Awards, Jack White is already working on material for his next record – what else would you expect from one of the most prolific artists of this era?

In a recent sit down with Rolling Stone, White says “I’ve got about 20 to 25 tracks I’m working on right now – a lot of songs. It’s a good time for writing for me.”

Funny to think that not too long ago, many believed that once the White Stripes were done, so would he. Far from it, as it turns out.

White revealed that he has been recording new material with the Buzzards and the Peacocks, his separate male and female bands, respectively, which he worked with on Blunderbuss.

"Everybody involved was inspired," he says of working with the bands. "Nobody had really done that before, and it was scary in a way. I wanted to keep that going on this one. I just want...

Vedder says Pearl Jam's new album
"half way there."

Good news for fans of grunge legends Pearl Jam as frontman Eddie Vedder has told Rolling Stone magazine that the group’s long awaited new album is “half way there.” Well, better than nothing.

It has been known for some time now that the band was working on new material – mostly on and off – over the past year or so but have never committed to a time table as the group members continue to work on solo projects and tours.

Now, in a new interview with Rolling Stone – centered on his involvement with the West Memphis Three – Vedder was asked for an update on Pearl Jam's latest recording project.

"Um, maybe halfway there," said Vedder. "We're taking our time. I was talking to Jeff [Ament] today, we were texting, he's got his group up there. He's heading to the West Coast, I'm heading east. And we're out here like, you know, like Johnny Appleseed. He's covering part of the country. I'm doing the other. And at some point we'll join forces again ...

How was the weekend, music fans? It seems like it was a pretty interesting one in the world to say the least.

Starting off with yet another famous rock frontman meltdown, Jack White reportedly walked out on fans during a scheduled performance at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.  According to online music site Antiquiet, White cut the performance short after only about a 45 minute set – causing several fans in attendance to protest the walk out soon after.

Apparently, White didn’t take kindly to the series of heckles being thrown at him throughout his performance including one shirtless provoker who had to be removed by security.

Reports also claim that White was not particularly happy with the sound quality at the venue which most likely only added to the singer-songwriter’s frustration – now whether or not that was the right thing to do is a completely different conversation.

According to a person in attendance who kept in contact Antiquiet during White’s...

Alright pro audio fans, we’re back from what should have been a pretty memorable weekend for those of you out there who never miss the opening ceremonies of a certain worldwide event. And while fans of the Olympic Games were been treated to its usual assortment of high back springs and backstroke relays, concert goers this weekend celebrated the best way they know how – violence! I’m exaggerating, obviously, but stay with me here. When you go to a Tenacious D show, there are a few things that you should expect; Guys dressed in alien costumes, plenty of fart jokes and even the occasional rocking tune (I joke of course, they always rock).

Well, fans that attended last Saturday’s July 28 D show at the House of Blues in Vegas got something a bit more exciting than they were expecting when fifteen minutes into the set, a fight broke loose amongst a few members of the crowd and did not end until blood hit the floor courtesy of a frie...

*The White Stripes in 2001, first tour of Japan

As any normal music fan, we sometimes aren’t satisfied with simply the songs when it comes to our favorite bands. Some of us want to know their back story, some of us want to know who they’re dating, and some of us even want to know their favorite food! While some fans are simply casual and other are downright fanatical, musicians are a different breed of fans, more like brothers in arms actually. Rather than wanting to know things that have little to do with music and more to do with the trivial personal matters in the artist’s life, musicians want the gear info! And why not? It’s a chance to look at the tools in their repertoire, compare it with themselves, or even just gain a deeper sense of what makes the band work. This week, we will be taking a look at the famous brother-sister duo, The White Stripes! Although it later turned out that these two were actually former husband and wife rather than siblings, the raw intensity of their sou...

Richards in 2006; Wikimedia Commons

Interesting news has come out suggesting that Jack White could potentially produce the Rolling Stone’s next album.

This would not be the first time Keith Richards and White joined forces on a collaborative effort as the two worked on a few (as of yet unreleased) recordings in 2009 as well as the former White Stripe joining the Stones on stage in 2006 (which can be seen in Martin Scorsese’s Shine a Light).

When asked by Rolling Stone magazine if White could be considered to produce the Rolling Stone’s latest effort, Keith did not seem to rule out the idea. “That’s always a possibility,” said Richards. “The door is wide open.”

This wouldn’t be the first time White has taken his talents behind a mixing board, having produced LPs for Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson, not to mention all of the late White Stripes albums

It must be said that there is still no telling when the Rolling Stones will hit the studio and probably not any time soon, although Keith did add...

One of the staples of hard rock effects has always been the overdrive. Seems like just about every hard rock genre uses a bit of distortion – or in the case of punk and metal, A LOT! Even before the concept was properly exploited for use in the studio or on stage, musicians had found creative ways to replicate the sound by essentially overloading the signal that the amp was able to properly handle, giving them that familiar distorted sound that now comes standard on several modern amps. Overdrive through pedals or through a built-in amp effect pretty much works exactly the same, although in a much more refined and controlled sort of way, allowing you to achieve distorted tones of unlimited possibilities that simply weren’t available to rock’s pioneers. With that said, one of today’s most popular overdrive pedals used by the professional and amateurs alike is the one and only Electro Harmonix Classic Big Muff Pi pedal. Everyone from Jack White to David Gilmour hav...

Standard mono input jack found on most electric guitars

There are a few things in life that are pretty much unavoidable. Yeah, we’ve all heard about taxes and death and things that in general are just not that cool, let alone fixable. Same rules apply with any other pursuit. If you ride a bike, you’re almost certainly bound to take a spill and if you play electric guitar, eventually something is bound to break. The great thing though about technology and mechanics is that problems are fixable! They may not always be easily done but with a bit of knowledge and enough will power, death of equipment can be avoided. Guitars are just like any other device; give it enough years or rough hits and something will eventually give, even through normal wear and tear. One of the more common problems that most electric guitar players will eventually come across is a dead signal. Sometimes it might be the pickup wiring, the guitar’s circuitry or even something as simple as a bad input cable. And somet...

Summer is looking to get a whole lot heavier with Slipknot announcing their very own metal and hard rock music festival set to take place in none other than the band’s old stomping grounds of America’s heartland.

Tenacious D Drop New Album

Actor Jack Black and bandmate Kyle Gass are at it again and will be releasing a brand new Tenacious D album next Tuesday according to a recent interview with Reuters.

The new album, entitled Rize of the Fenix, will be the duo’s third studio release and the first in six years. Both Black and Gass were adamant about trying to bring back “the majesty and genius of rock” by trying to save what they see as a dying genre.

"Since we had our last album, rock and roll completely died,” said Black. “Thank God for The D, riding in on their white stallions to rescue rock and roll. What killed it? Was it Axl Rose in the library with a wrench, or was it Lady Gaga in the pantry with the pliers? We don't know but we'll figure it out.”

Although they admit that critics are hard pressed to take the group serious due to their heavy comedy background, they claim to be completely serious about their latest endeavor, even going as far as to ask fellow famous friends for help writ...

Jack White's first ever solo album, Blunderbuss

It seems as though fellow American and former White Stripes frontman Jack White has a lot to be thankful for these days, knocking out stunning songstress Adele for the top spot on the album charts across the pond.

White’s brand new and first solo effort debuted at No. 1 this week, claiming the spot that had been pretty much owned by soul singer-songwriter Adele for over a year now. The UK crooner is far from slowing down after relinquishing the top stop; she was recently named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people – an honor her Prime Minister David Cameron can’t even claim.

White’s blues heavy Blunderbuss now sits atop the list with Adele, Lana Del Rey and Nicki Minaj taking the next three spots, respectively.

On the singles chart, Canadian Idol contestant Carley Rey Jepsen is still queen at No. 1, having sold 434,000 copies to date and easily on track to becoming the best selling single of the year. Scottis singer-songwriter an...

Fans of the late great White Stripes will finally have a little something to cheer about as former frontman Jack White has announced the upcoming release of a brand new DVD. According to UK music site NME, “Under New Zealand Lights” will be released via White’s record label Third Man Records and is slated to feature performances from both 2000 and 2003.

The three time Best Alternative Album Grammy winners parted ways in February of 2011 after it became apparent that drummer Meg White no longer felt she could go on.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Jack White spoke somberly about the band’s demise. “I’d make a White Stripes record right now,” he said. “I’d be in the White Stripes for the rest of my life. That band is the most challenging, important, fulfilling thing ever to happen to me. I wish it was still here. It’s something I really, really miss. Some people can live their whole lives in limbo, I’d rather cut the lifeline so we can move...
