Well, looks as if one of rock’s top acts is finally calling it quits after over three decades in the limelight. Although Motley Crue will be kicking off an extensive Canadian tour on Saturday, Vince Neil spoke with the QMI Agency about what lies ahead for the band in their final years.

"We're going to put out some new music next year and then it's our farewell tour - we'll do the world one more time and then call it a day," said Neil. “Our farewell tour (will be like) 2014 or '15. Tours last about two years. So to finish the world, you've got to do the US, Canada, Europe, Asia ... it takes some time."

As for the reason the band are calling it quits after more than 30 years and 80 million albums sold, Vince says, "It's time, that's really it. Do you want to go out on top rather than fading away? And that's it. You know, I'll continue to sing Motley with my solo band and put out solo records and stuff and (bassist) Nikki (Sixx)'s ...

Great news for music fans this morning as Sir Paul McCartney has announced a few more details of his 2013 world tour, officially titled “Out There!”.

Not only that, but the man has also been working on a brand new record, the follow up to 2012’s “Kisses On The Bottom.”

The living music legend has only announced two tour dates so far – Poland and Australia in late June – but promises that more international stops will be revealed in the coming weeks.

"The tour will see Paul and his band travel the world throughout the year, even visiting some places they've never been before," said a statement on Paul's website where tickets will be available soon.

And if you happen to consider yourself a pretty big McCartney fan and will be heading to your nearest music shop for Record Store Day – observed on the third Saturday of April since 2007 to promote music and independent music stores – look out for his exclusive release of “Maybe I’m Amazed,” a 12” vinyl of the classic Wings track originally relea...

Album art for "The Next Day."

Well, the fact that his latest record has landed at the top stop isn’t as much of a surprise as how long he had been away from there but anyways, David Bowie has earned his first UK number 1 album in 20 years.

The Official Charts Company reports Bowie’ s “The Next Day” also becomes the fastest selling UK album of 2013 to date.

David’s new album, his first new material in nearly a decade, is his first chart topper since 1993’s “Black Tie White Noise,” and has this week notched up sales of over 94,000 copies to claim the title of the fastest selling album of the year so far. The title was previously held by Biffy Clyro’s “Opposites,” which sold 71,600 copies during its opening week back in January.

Bowie outsells the second highest new entry of the week – Bon Jovi’s “What About Now” at number 2 - by more than two copies to one.

The music legend recently released a video for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” the second single from the album; the clip features actress...

Ward  cropped out. Check here for the original.

We still have a few months until the anticipated June release of Black Sabbath’s reunion (kind of) album, 13, but while the guys are putting the finishing touches, they have released a behind the scenes preview of their latest project.

The full video will be released in full later on today but in the meantime, they have offered a 30 sneak preview clip of what fans can expect.

“The last time we were in the studio, all together, was 1978,” says guitarist Tony Iommi, referring to the band’s “Never Say Die” album.

“If you try to live up to the expectations of the past album, then you just fail dismally,” adds bassist Geezer Butler.

“I want it to sound current but yet still have that Sabbath vibe, ya know,” explains Ozzy Osbourne. “This Black Sabbath album is quite possibly the most important album of my career.”

As some of you might remember, the original Sabbath lineup held a press conference way bac...

Jack White and the Peacocks performing at Sunday's
Grammy Awards.

Even though his number one selling record Blunderbuss may have struck out (three times no less) at this past Sunday’s Grammy Awards, Jack White is already working on material for his next record – what else would you expect from one of the most prolific artists of this era?

In a recent sit down with Rolling Stone, White says “I’ve got about 20 to 25 tracks I’m working on right now – a lot of songs. It’s a good time for writing for me.”

Funny to think that not too long ago, many believed that once the White Stripes were done, so would he. Far from it, as it turns out.

White revealed that he has been recording new material with the Buzzards and the Peacocks, his separate male and female bands, respectively, which he worked with on Blunderbuss.

"Everybody involved was inspired," he says of working with the bands. "Nobody had really done that before, and it was scary in a way. I wanted to keep that going on this one. I just want...

Slayer guitarist Kerry King performing in 2011.

Bad news for Slayer fans as they will have to wait a bit longer than expected for a new record as guitarist Kerry King confirms that the band’s latest effort is being held up by producer Rick Rubin.

He also dropped hints that fellow Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman – who has contributed to every album and is a founding member of the group – might not participate in the recording sessions as he is still recovering after suffering a near-fatal spider bite.

This isn’t the first time a prominent musician has publically stated critical comments of the iconic producer.

As some of you might remember, in 2011 Graham Nash blamed Rubin for having “ruined” the Crosby, Stills and Nash recording sessions.

Not only that, in the same year ZZ Top’s Billy gibbons said that Rubin was responsible for delays in the release of their latest album, Futura, admitting that they had been pushed to “the brink of frustration,” adding “the band is wondering, ‘Where is this ...

Black Sabbath's tentatively titled '13' hits later this year.

Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler sat down with That Metal Show’s Eddie Trunk and revealed some pretty juicy tidbits on how the band’s new album is coming along and from the sounds of it – looks like fans will be able to get their hands on the latest effort later this year.

“We’re finished recording it,” Geezer tells Trunk. “Tony [Iommi]’s back in England putting down a couple of solos. Then we start mixing it in February, and it’ll be out in June. The provisional title is ‘13’, unless we can come up with something more constructive.”

For the new project, Geezer continues his long-established role as principal lyricist for the band as many of you probably already know.

“I’ve written most of the lyrics," he adds. "Ozzy [Osbourne] comes out with the titles and then gives me an inspiration to write the lyrics, I think we’ve got 16 songs and I’ve written 14 sets of lyrics.”

Sabbath are working with legendary producer Rick Rubin on ...

The new album, entitled “Old Sock,” is set for a March 12th release date and will feature plenty of heavy hitters including Paul McCartney, JJ Cale, Steve Winwood, Chaka Kahn and Jim Keltner.

"Old Sock" will feature Clapton's interpretations of some of his favorite songs as well as two new original songs; "Every Little Thing" and "Gotta Get Over."

The bulk of the album is made up of Clapton's new versions of songs from Leadbelly, J.J. Cale, Peter Tosh, George Gershwin, Hank Snow, Gary Moore and Taj Mahal.

Another week in the books and another rock star getting into trouble – let’s check out some rock and roll news.

Looks like Motley Crue singer Vince Neil is gaining some huge momentum towards winning the coveted troubled post heyday rocker of the year award as he has once again found himself in the middle of a gossip column worthy tirade over this past weekend.

TMZ has obtained video of the veteran singer apparently taking a rage induced closed-fist swing at a front-row concert goer during a show in New Mexico.

The video shows Neil getting started on “Kickstart My Heart” when a fan seemed to do something that angered him, causing the singer to stop the song and start yelling at the guy “get the f--- outta here!”

When the fan started yelling right back, Neil reached back and let him have one – sort of. He missed. Looks like the fan had the quicker reaction as he ducked right in the nick of time.

He just wasn’t quick enough to avail security as ...

From Left: Josh Homme and Dave Grohl back in 2007

Good morning music fans! Now that we don’t have to go through another one of those non-stop political seasons for at least another two years we can all get back to what really matters – music!

There’s a bit of good and bad news coming out of the Queens of the Stone Age camp as it has been confirmed to the BBC by frontman Josh Homme that drummer Joey Castillo has left the band.

If only there were another drummer out there who’s had history with the band that fans would embrace… well, how about Dave Grohl?

You heard right, Homme confirmed to BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe that none other than the renaissance rocker himself Dave Grohl will be taking the helm on the drum kit for the band’s brand new album.

"[Grohl] and I have this wonderful musical relationship which we don't have with other people,” said Homme during the interview. “It's a very cool and comfortable position."

Although the prospects of this being a permanent move for Grohl are slim once...

Mumford and Sons continue to dominate with Babel

Whether or not you happen to have a particular soft spot for banjo heavy pub rock, seems like most of America’s music purchasers do as British folk band Mumford and Sons continue to hold their place at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart going on three weeks now while fighting off seven top ten debuts from plenty of heavy hitters.

Babel – the groups second studio album – sold a very strong 96,000 units in its third week while the runner up – independent hip hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis – entered at No. 2 with The Heist.

How close was it? Kind of, but not really. Still though, the 78,000 records sold is nothing to scoff at, especially when you consider that the Seattle based hip hop artist Mackle more and producer Lewis basically built the hype for their debut album themselves off of a steady following via Twitter and YouTube. Did I mention the record was also independently produced and released?

Other notable releases included the...

2013 will mark 50 years in the business for Clapton*

It’s been a pretty quiet last couple of years for old Slow Hands but the legendary guitarist is out to make 2013 a year that fans can definitely look forward to.

Revealed in a post through his official website, Eric Clapton has just announced plans that he has been working on an album of all new material which should hit adorning fans by early 2013 – just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his lengthy and critically acclaimed career.

Clapton first gained notoriety for his guitar skill very early in his career with bands such as The Bluesbreakers and the rock hall of famers The Yardbirds then kept it going with a series of classic groups and solo efforts.

And just in case that you might need some of that signature blues-rock a little more up close and personal, the rock and roll hall of famer also revealed that he will be hitting the live circuit with a brand new set of shows – unfortunately, you’re going to have to make your ...
