Seven songs from the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 10th album, "I'm With You," made it into the punk-funk icons' 90-minute set Monday night at a private show at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood. "I'm With You" will be released Aug. 30, and the same day the Fuse TV network will air the Roxy concert.

The Peppers went back and forth between new tracks and vintage cuts, opening with "Monarchy of Roses" and, besides their smash hits, rarely reaching back into the 20th century for material. Like many bands that soften their rougher edges during the second decade of their existence, the Peppers found album tracks such as "Charlie" to create a smooth segue from one new songs to the next and a hard funk track such as "I Like Dirt" to provide a contrast.

The shirtless leaders Anthony Kiedis -- who did start the night in black tails -- and bassist Flea, in matching red pants and Pumas, were their usual frenetic selves, flinging their bodies around the stage, hopping in place and rolling through mosh pit-inspired moves. New guitarist Josh Klinghoffer is still finding his place onstage, striking punk poses and butting up against Kiedis and Flea, but never with the flair for the frantic the band's leaders posses.

Flea reminisced about seeing Big Audio Dynamite recently at the Roxy Theatre, and also detailed the way he and Kiedis would sneak into the venue by climbing up to the second story and crawling through a window into a dressing room. "You hung out with the band, drank their beer and a saw a show for free," he said. Bars have since been installed on the windows.

The Peppers were assisted by Mauro Refosco on congas, a keyboardist and, for "Did I Let You Know," Mike Bulger on trumpet.

The show, presented by Coca-Cola Zero, will be broadcast on Fuse TV on Aug. 30 at 9PM/8PM ET/CT.

Set List:
"Monarchy of Roses"
"Can't Stop"
"Ethiopia"
"Charlie"

July can be the hottest month in America, so the Red Hot Chili Peppers thought it best to do a "Rain Dance."

The veteran rock troupe has now confirmed that the track "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" will be the first single from their new album "I'm With You," and that the song is set to arrive on July 18.

"I'm With You," as previously reported, will be out on Aug. 30; the song sits squarely in the middle of the album's tracklist. If you missed it, check out the new album art.

"Rain Dance Maggie" will also be up for sale on July 18. Fans who need a good reminder can sign up for the band's Facebook Event page, and are guaranteed various sorts of tease material until then.

But consider, too -- July 18 is on Monday. And as this industry often works, we wouldn't be surprised if it leaks early.

The single art to "Maggie" features all four members of RHCP, including the frequently shirtless Flea, frontman Anthony Kiedis in his party shirt and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who replaced former guitarist John Frusciante.

As producer Rick Rubin said earlier this month, he credits that personnel change as a source of a new sound for the group.

Red Hot Chili Peppers will release their new album, I'm With You, on August 30, 2011, according to bass player Flea.

Flea was unable to contain his excitement when he announced the title and release date on Twitter, writing: “I'm With You August 30th!!! whahoooooo!!! yip! yippeeee!!!! whaaaaaaa!!!!!!! yes y3es ys ye s yes yes yeyeyeye yes yes yeslovelovelove.”

The album was originally rumored to be titled Dr. Johnny Skin’s Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head. It was produced by the legendary Rick Rubin (Slayer, Metallica, Johnny Cash), and the first single, "The Adventures Of Raindance Maggie," will be released on July 18.

The album is the first to feature former Warpaint guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who stepped in after John Frusciante quit the band in 2009. Klinghoffer collaborated with Frusciante on several of the latter's solo discs, and was along to provide additional guitar, keys and backing vocals on RHCP's Stadium Arcadium tour in 2007.

The album is the band's tenth. It marks the longest stretch to date between studio albums, and first without Frusciante since One Hot Minute in 1995, which featured Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction.

John Frusciante has confirmed he's quit the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and that attempts to bring him back into the fold have failed because he's no longer interested in the band.

They reconvened in October after a year's break became a two-year break, to begin work on a new album. At the time drummer Chad Smith said he was confident Frusciante would return, depite the guitarist's comments that he felt he had no more to achieve in the outfit.

Now Frusciante, who quit once before but later returned, has confirmed what a band source revealed earlier this week: he's definitely out. And as far as he's concerned, he left in 2008. He says: "When I quit over a year ago we were on an indefinite hiatus. There was no drama or anger involved and the other guys were very understanding. They're supportive of my doing whatever makes me happy - and that goes both ways.

"To put it simply, my musical interested have led me in a different direction."

Those close to the band say that Frusciante has already been replaced by Josh Klinghoffer, who toured with the Chili Peppers alongside Frusciante in 2007.

“Josh Klinghoffer has been playing with the group for a couple of months now,” a source close to the band explained. “Optimistically, the Peppers are trying to lock down a replacement for John, who has apparently quit. Mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He’s interested in doing his own thing, his own albums – the whole big rock band machinery just doesn’t appeal to him anymore.”

Days after releasing a double-A single Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses/The Hollow Earth, Radiohead's Thom Yorke has announced he's formed a new band - don't worry, it's just a side project - with which he intends to play live shows.

The group consists of Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, long-time Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, REM collaborator Joey Waronker and Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco.

In a blog on Radiohead's Dead Air Space, Yorke discusses the new outfit, and mentions upcoming gigs at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles on 4 and 5 October:

"In the past couple of weeks I've been getting a band together for fun to play The Eraser stuff [Yorke's 2006 solo album] live and the new songs etc..to see if it could work!"

Yorke adds, "We don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ...well...we haven't got that much material yet! But come and check it out if you are in the area. We've also got locals Lucky Dragons playing."

The Radiohead frontman doesn't indicate whether there will be additional dates, but with Flea returning to active duty in the Chili Peppers in just a few weeks, the unnamed band might be a weekend-only affair.
