Details

The Gemini II dual valve microphone is sE Electronics ultimate design. A no holds barred piece of microphone history. The dual valve design means pure valve warmth from the 12AX7 input valve coupled with a 12AU7 valve on the output stage in place of the traditional transformer. The result is an incredibly large detailed and intimate sound reminiscent of the classic valve microphones from decades ago, but with all of the top end you’d normally associate with the best solid state mics on the market.

Max SPL for 0.5% THD@1000Hz: 135dB

'In this day and age of digital recording, anything that can add character to the signal path is worth it's weight in gold. with a microphone like the Gemini you can really push the limits.' - TROY VAN LEEUWEN - QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

I got this because I read that Rhiana and Nikki Minaj had used it and thought I'd try it on my voice. When I opened it , I was blown away by how heavy and well built it was. The road case and ps are awesome. The thread on the shock was a little tight but I think that will loosen up after a while. I set it up and it was so much fatter than my other tube mic, but really clear at the same time. I wanted a Manely ref card like the studio where I did the last record had, but this sounds even fuller on my voice and is way less. I put on our album and then my new songs, and was totally jacked at how good this mic sounds. Everyone thinks the two tubes are cool too. Not sure why it's kinda a secret? (Posted on 10/29/2014)
