Details

The new high performance passive ribbon mic from SE Electronics is suited for a multitude of different recording applications. Everything from broadcast voice overs to overhead drum mics, brass instruments, woodwind instruments, or strings.

The fine ribbon inside the X1R is state of the art and is enclosed by top grade neodymium magnets. SE electronics has combined some mechanical elements of their patented Voodoo Microphone High Frequency Extension technology with some traditional ribbon technology to give you the sound of a classic ribbon microphone with just a gentle high frequency lift.

The X1R gives natural beauty of the ribbon sound, but with more versatility than most of the ribbons on today’s market. The X1R includes the chassis and design elements of the successful SE X1 Cardioid Condenser Microphone. The hand-crafted quality you expect from all SE microphones, but at a fraction of the cost of other ribbon mics.

This mic is perfect for first time project studio buyers looking to have a top grade microphone in their arsenal with out having to shell out the big dollars.

A custom designed shock mount and pop filter kit called Isolation Pack is also available today from sE Electronics, providing customers with a versatile and cost-effective solution.

I bought this because I saw the reviews, and thought that it would be okay, and man it sounds great on my JCM800! Pretty much just plug and play, sweet and rich sounded, but not at all dull. It feels and sounds like a much more expensive mic, how do they make it for $200.00? My buddy has a Royer 121, and he couldn't believe how good the X1R sounded. I kinda wish it had a metal case instead of a box, but at that price and the way it sounds on my rig, its great. I'm gonna get another for when we cut drums. (Posted on 10/24/2014)
