What began in June 1945 in a former university laboratory with a team of only seven and a great deal of pioneering spirit has now become a world-leading manufacturer of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems that understands the desires and demands of audio professionals and enthusiasts.

Ever since the unveiling of its very first microphone, the MD 2, in 1947, Sennheiser has continued to develop innovative products that have redefined the audio industry. A few early highlights include the development of the MD 21 (1953), a microphone legend that is still manufactured today; the ground-breaking MD 82 ‘tele-microphone’ (1956), which was the first microphone able to pick up sound at great distances; and the classic MD 421 microphone (1960). But it was in 1968 that a somewhat “accidental” invention led to a product that was to outdo even the highly successful microphones. Sennheiser developed the legendary HD 414, the world’s first open headphones—a product that created the headphone market all by itself.

Today, Sennheiser continues to deliver the ultimate audio experience for people who crave true-to-life sound. With an array of premium audio products for musical productions, recording, film, broadcast, casual listening and even gaming, Sennheiser offers high-performance audio solutions for virtually any environment or application.
