Should just be called the "11" pedal Review by Dave

Ok, so here's my review of this pedal (and maybe compressors in general). The last time I tried to integrate a compressor onto my board it was a very well known and highly used pedal (won't name names). The problem was that every time I switched it on the background noise became almost louder than the original signal, which might be ok in a live setting but is unacceptable in the studio. My solution was to get rid of a compressor altogether. A few months ago I saw a great video from Michael Thompson demoing the Xotic SP Compressor and I loved the sound he got (but then again he;s getting paid to make demos). I took the plunge and bought it and have loved every single second with it. While it is a pure compressor, that makes clean tones ring out and sustains notes it also just makes everything sound better. Running this pedal through a custom shop guitar or a beater (in my case an old Charvette) this pedal brings out every nuance of your playing, and does it in an inspiring way. Can I compare it to other compressors? No, but I don't need to. This pedal makes everything sound so great and clean that I imagine I'll be leaving it on all the time (at least until my EP preamp gets here) because it really just makes the guitar sound like it is at "11" tone-wise all the time.

You get what you pay for, which in this case is a fantastic, great sounding pedal built by one of the best companies out there. When in doubt...just buy it and thank me later.
