Behind all the songs and music that we hear, there are some untold stories. Stories of those musicians who dedicated their lives to music. Stories of each of their career paths are identified by only them, just like their palm prints. In a competitive and saturated industry like music, one needs a lot of luck to thrive. But is luck everything? What are the qualities behind the success of famous musicians?   There is no stable income when you start to embark upon this path. Success is not so easy in an industry like music, and it requires a lot many things. There are many people claiming that music is their passion, but to transform passion into a career is a path of difficulty. To undertake this path of difficulty, the first requisite is to want it more than anything else in life. Complete dedication and hard work is the only way to be successful. There are many factors involved in making your musical career a successful one. Some of the qualities successful musicians possess are:

1. Confidence

There are many successful musicians today who had no other choice of career except music, so they gave their 100% to it. When you have a Plan B to fall back on, you cannot totally dedicate yourself to Plan A. It won't make you successful, but it is the best way to get you started. To implement focusing only on a musical career, one requires a lot of confidence in oneself. A musician needs to take this leap of faith and not fall into the clutches of a stable job and income. To master his art, an artist needs to give his whole time and energy to the art. A sense of adventure in a musician is a good motivator to dive deep into music and make it the only priority and path ahead.

2. Hard Work

They say that hard work is the first stepping stone to success. The musicians must work hard to educate themselves about music making and enjoy music. Going into music must not be considered as an escape from work from day jobs. Instead, it must be the only work. It's not so easy to compose music. It is more life becoming an entrepreneur, where one has to create his/her product, and then promote it to the people so that they get it.

3. Practice

Practice makes a man perfect. Successful musicians practice a lot, day and night. When one is into music totally, he/she cannot afford to stagnate because that would eventually culminate his/her musical career. The success of a musician lies in his daily practice. Successful musicians make practicing a vital thing like breathing and eating. Passion for music is not enough to achieve a career in music, practicing every day is what helps one to grow and improvise in music. By practicing daily, a musician rises above others.

4. Modesty

The field of music sure does not ensure you waterfalls of money, especially during the initial struggle period. The income of a musician depends on the kind of musician one is and is sporadic. When one starts to think of having a music career, the expectations of having lot of money and luxuries in life come attached with it. But, connecting passion with money can ruin everything. Then, an unstable and less income can lead to stress. That is when one can stop being anxious and find out ways to stabilize the income. There are a lot of ways, like licensing your music to a television ad, or simply teaching music and growing your skills too in the process. That is a modest way undertaken by many successful musicians. To sum up, it is a good thing to dream to become a successful musician, but thinking of just earning money can totally cut you off from the competition.

5. Patience And Not Giving Up

One of the most important qualities of a successful musician is to have a lot of patience. One cannot be successful overnight, and especially in an art like music. To skill in music takes time, and for that one needs to be patient. Every musician who is topping the charts today hasn't become successful in a day. They have been practicing and honing their talents for years and years and are still learning. The sign of a real musician is that they learn and improve themselves daily, bit by bit. They know that it is going to take years for them to become able to compete with the flood of musicians out there in the world hungry for success. The most important thing is that giving up early might lead to an end of the career. So, instead of waiting for a 'big break,' one must be persistent about it.

6. Creativity

A successful musician always tries to practice in a stress-free environment, and the major reason of stress could be an unstable income. But, that is when the concept of creativity must be implemented. A successful musician knows how to generate revenue through other ways. With total immersion in music, they find multiple sources of income, like licensing them for television ads or shows. Giving music lessons to young students could be a good job to stay immersed in music and stabilizing income as well. Finding a restaurant where live music could be played and performing there could be another good way to make money. Money can help you evolve in the musical career, and that is what most of the successful musicians we see today have done. Therefore, a successful musician does not wait for opportunities and big breaks they create them themselves.   Being successful in a business as cut-throat as music takes a lot more than just raw talent. You need the dedication to keep going even when things aren't looking good. You need the patience to know that it's not going to happen overnight. You need to be creative and willing to try something new. And most of all, you have to work hard to get what you want.
