Britney Spears Set to Join X-Factor

Clockwise from top left; Spears, Mayer, The Raconteurs, CoolioNever a dull moment in the world of celebrity rumors, and that goes two fold with the likes of artists such as the infamous Britney Spears. In case you don’t own a television or have somehow avoided any and all coworkers who can’t seem to avoid the Fox Television’s waning singing competion show (although some might argue it’s much more entertaining as a comedy), looks like they’ll be in for some heavy competition from the “hit me baby, one more time” songstress, as the Hollywood Reporter stated that Miss Spears is in talks with America Idol creator and former judge Simon Cowell.  The British hit maker is looking to add a healthy dose of diva to his new show, The X-Factor, which is essentially an American Idol clone, which he created as a clone of his vastly successful UK program (also called The X-Factor). Considering American Idol has former Aerosmith front man and “I can sell you anything” renaissance women Jennifer Lopez as judges, Cowell may just be looking to kill two birds with one stone, having an out of practice diva and a Jennifer Lopez all in one!

John Mayer Cancels Tour Due to Health

John Mayer has announced the cancelation of his upcoming spring tour which was in support of his new album, Born and Raised. The Bridgeport, Connecticut crooner announced Friday via his blog that a remission of granuloma on his throat has forced him to not only cancel the tour, but also begin an “indefinite hiatus from live performing.”

"During rehearsal on Tuesday, it came to mind that I should see my throat doctor because something didn't feel/sound right. I went in for a visit on Wednesday and a scope of my vocal cords revealed that the granuloma has grown back where it had mostly healed. This is bad news. Because of this, I have no choice but to take an indefinite break from live performing. Though there will be a day when all of this will be behind me, it will sideline me for a longer period of time than I care to have you count down."

"I want to explain this a bit more in depth than I have in the past, because I know there's some confusion as to what this condition is; a granuloma forms and continues to snowball because it's in a spot where the vocal cords hit together and there's no way to really give it a chance to heal without a good stretch of time and some pretty intensive treatment. In short, it's one giant pain in the ass."

Jack White's Raconteurs Set to Release DVD, Blu-Ray

And for all of you Jack White fans who still haven’t recovered from the 2010 breakup of notable barebones rock outfit, The White Stripes, there’s a bit of bright news coming your way, as one of White’s side projects, The Raconteurs, is set to release one of their high energy live performances on DVD and Blu-ray on June 19th.  The Raconteurs' Live At Montreux 2008 will be the group’s first attempt at a live performance retail release, featuring fan friendly hits such as “Steady, As She Goes", "Many Shades Of Black", "Broken Boy Soldier", "Salute Your Solution" and more. If you’re a fan of the groups’ two albums or are just looking to fill the void left by White’s original and sorely missed "brother-sister" band (they are actually a divorvced couple; details), catch it on Blu-ray or DVD this June.

Coolio Sent to Jail for Unpaid Parking Tickets

Rounding out the morning news in musicians behaving badly, ‘90s rapper Coolio was arrested in Las Vegas Friday morning after a routine stop where authorities discovered that the “Fantastic Voyage” lyricist had two bench warrants for his arrest, stemming from multiple traffic violations. Interestingly enough, the rapper was sent to Clark County Detention Center where his son, Grtis (believe me, not a type-o), is currently being held for suspicion of armed robbery.
