New Beatles Musical To Commemorate 50th Anniversary of First Release

Great news for all you Beatlemaniacs out there, or at least across the pond, as the London based Jamie Hendry Productions has been granted access to all of the Beatles’ back catalog and have plans to release a brand new theatrical production based on the Fab Four’s hits including “Twist and Shout,” “Hey Jude” and “Yesterday.”

The new production entitled “Let It Be” will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ first hit record, “Love Me Do,” released in Britain in October of 1962. Organizers have described the production as a “theatrical concert” that tells the story of the rock legends from their humble beginnings in Liverpool to worldwide mega-stardom through a combination of live performances and video.

The rights for the music were given by Sony/ATV, a joint venture by Sony Music and the well known owner of much of the Beatles’ back catalogue, the Estate of Michael Jackson.

“Let It Be” is set to run at The Prince of Wales Theatre between September 14, 2012 and January 19, 2013, although and extension may occur if the show is successful. Jamie Hendry Productions is the company behind "Legally Blonde the Musical" and "La Cage aux Folles".
