Paul McCartney confirmed for Dec 15 on SNL

I don’t know about you but I can definitely feel the holiday season coming in at full swing and it looks like plenty of rockers out there are getting in the spirit as well. Some are getting in trouble, but hey, when aren’t they?

Throughout its long career and ups and downs, one of the single biggest constants, in my opinion at least, that has kept Saturday Night Live as a viable and relevant program has to be their selection of guest performers.

They usually run a healthy gamut from flavor of the month groups such as LMFAO, underground up and comers such as Lana Del Rey and of course, rock and roll heavy weights such as this coming Christmas episode’s guest, Paul McCartney.

According to a press release for the show, McCartney will be making his fourth appearance as SNL’s musical guest on December 15th when the show will celebrate its annual Christmas episode along with guest host Martin Short.

There’s a pretty good chance that one of the numbers being performed will be none other than McCartney’s recent release, a jazz inspired cover of the holiday standard “The Christmas Song.”

And in other news from around the rock world, the Rolling Stones have announced that none other than ‘Slow Hands’ himself Eric Clapton along with up and coming British singer Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine will be joining the band onstage for their second “50 & Counting” gig at London’s 02 Arena tonight.

And seeing as how the Stones featured special appearances by Jeff Beck, Mary J. Blige and former bandmates Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor this past Sunday, us here in the states should expect the same treatment when their “50 & Counting” tour comes to the Barclay Center in New York on December 8th along with two nights at Newark, NJ's Prudential Center on December 13 & 15.
