The seven currently free members of Pussy Riot

Russian Police Want More Pussy Riot

Good morning, music fans! So far this season most of us here in the states have been sweating it out through the dog days of summer but it seems as if things in the old country are just starting to heat up. No, I’m not talking about the impeachment of the Romanian President Basescu (although that’s what everyone is talking about, right?), but about our kind of friend and former enemy across the globe – good ol’ Mother Russia!

As some of you might have heard, last week, feminist punk group and neon colored mask fashionistas Pussy Riot were found guilty of the admittedly awesome-sounding act of “hooliganism” for their open public punk prayer towards Russian President and Blofeldian mastermind, Vladimir Putin.

The punishment? Two years in prison each for members Maria Alyokhina, 24, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 29, out of a maximum possible sentence of seven. And just in case you thought once the punishment was handed out for the crime that things would cool down, Russian police have just confirmed that they are searching for more members of Pussy Riot – of which the band has seven members currently not jailed up.

The Guardian reports that police are currently searching for members of the group in connection with the protests, but they have yet to reveal any names. They also add that security footage from Moscow’s Christ The Saviour Cathedral where the incident took place has been reviewed and they have positively identified the two remaining women at the scene that have yet to be arrested.

“The necessary search operations are being conducted,” said a Moscow Police representative, although many believe that this is merely an act by Russian authorities to persuade any would be protesters from causing more social demonstrations.

Angry Birds For Green Day Fans

Once again, count your blessings Westerners! But on a much lighter note, have any of you out there played a little game known as Angry Birds? Yeah, I’m probably about three years late on that one but regardless, your favorite avian-flinging pork-bashing smartphone game is once again getting a makeover, this time in the flavor of punk pop veterans Green Day.

The same mechanics and humor are still very much intact but will feature ten brand new levels along with pig versions of the Green Day members. Also, fans can unlock the new song, “Troublemaker," off the band’s upcoming album ¡Uno!, which is due next month.

"This unique collaboration is the first of its kind for Rovio and offers an innovative blend of music, video, and gameplay," says game-maker Rovio. "Updates for the Green Day episode, coming later this fall, will provide even more exclusive content and levels."

And just in case you can’t wait to see drummer Tre Cool in all of his pig-form glory, head over to Facebook here to play.
