Tom Morello

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine fame will bring his pro-union Justice Tour to the Midwest this September. The dates, which include Wayne Kramer of the MC5 and Tim McIlrath of Rise Against as supporting acts, were planned to raise support for independent media, “which is battling the mountain of disinformation and propaganda foisted on the public by right-wing media barons,” Morello said in a Sound Spike article.

“Wayne and I have been playing together for a long time on and off, so we have a pretty good catalog of stuff to play,” Morello said in the article. “I’m sure Wayne may play one or two of the MC5 hits. Tim is a really great singer and his band, much like Rage Against the Machine, speaks to a younger audience about the same kind of social justice issues and class consciousness issues that I think are important.”

Morello is touring behind his new album, World Wide Rebel Songs, which has a Aug. 29 release date. Although his efforts under The Nightwatchman moniker have mostly been acoustic, Morello said the record also features the riff-heavy guitar playing he is known for.
